VILLA LENA

🇮🇹 TUSCANY

  • A stunning 19th-century villa in the heart of rural Tuscany. Originally built for an Italian aristocratic family, It now houses the Villa Lena Foundation and artist-in-residence program.

The villa offers multiple rooms and settings for photography, film and events including: a dramatic stone staircase, a grand entrance hall, a ballroom and dining room. Original tiled floors and classical frescos run throughout the property.

A kitchen garden and an original ornamental fountain can be found in the ample gardens surrounding the villa.

The west facing villa garden catches the unique tuscan orange sunset like no other location on the property, combined with the pink villa this is the perfect backdrop for any event.

Throughout the villa you can find original artwork from the Villa Lena Foundation's annual artists residency program, adding to the creative and unique setting of Villa Lena.

The grounds of Villa Lena are extensive in what they offer, including woodlands, olive groves and medieval villages. Vistas across the Tuscan landscape can be found at every turn across the estate.

Toiano Vecchio is a medieval park a short walk from the central hub of Villa Lena, that was renovated in 2017. Once the site of a medieval castle, it has seen various transformations over the centuries. The original castle collapsed during a violent earthquake and the larger stones were used to build the nearby 19th-century villa. The park centres around a hill, one of the highest points in the region with a wooded walkway up to it. It features an ancient fountain, a curious shell-clad grotto and our largest organic vegetable garden.

  • The main outdoor pool is located next to the centrally located San Michele building, together with a children’s pool and hot tub. Here you will experience extraordinary vistas across the Tuscan landscape. This area was recently renovated to incorporate shaded seating around the poolside bar, adding an architectural detail to the area. The yoga deck which is discreetly tucked behind the San Michele pool, overlooks an olive grove and with panoramic views to the Apennine mountains to the north. The wooden deck, designed by a previous Villa Lena Foundation artist-in-residence Fred Rigby, measures 14 x 7 metres and has running water, electricity and a sail canopy for shade. These two outside areas provide the perfect backdrop for all events and photoshoots.

Two additional pools can be found onsite and are available for hire.

  • The Villa Lena property houses a number of beautifully restored buildings including the newly renovated Fattoria and San Michele buildings.

The Fattoria, originally a stable building - has been restored with attention to even the smallest detail, historical features have been highlighted and effortlessly mixed with contemporary design. In keeping with the overall feel of Villa Lena the Fattoria includes luxurious guest rooms with marble bathrooms and panoramic views.
