EXPLORE THE LONDON TUBE ON GOOGLE STREETVIEW

London's transport network is set to receive a technological upgrade with the rollout of 360-degree imagery inside some of the city's busiest Underground stations. Transport for London (TfL) is partnering with Google to capture the images that will allow customers to better plan their journeys and get a sense of the layout of the stations.

The new feature will be available from next year and will take the form of a virtual representation of around 30 interchanges, including Green Park, King's Cross St Pancras and Waterloo. Cameras will capture the 360-degree images inside the stations, allowing passengers to get a better idea of the facilities available, such as toilets and help points.

Google will be responsible for capturing the Street View imagery in the coming weeks, using its blurring technology to protect privacy and distort identifiable faces before publication online. To avoid disturbing passengers, Google will operate between 10am and 4pm, and small teams will carry out the work using a 360-degree backpack camera.

Officials believe that the new viewpoint will help customers better plan their journeys and make interchanging between different Tube lines at stations easier and more convenient. The images will be launched throughout 2024, and it is expected to become an invaluable resource for commuters and tourists alike.
